Blog Torrent released
The folks at Downhill Battle have released Blog Torrent (formerly Battle Torrent) -- a simple, user friendly, and open source Bit Torrent interface. Creating and uploading torrent files to a server is a simple process, just select the file or folder and click "open". This can be limited on the server to registered users.
The download process is also pretty intuitive. If a user doesn't have the Blog Torrent client installed, the PHP based web interface will provide a simple Bit Torrent client when a torrent download is initiated.
At this time, the client is only supported on Windows, although Mac and Linux versions are supposedly in the works. The server side is all PHP based (no mySQL at this time), so it will work cross platform.
Although there are more barriers to overcome, this project makes Bit Torrent file transfers more accessible to the average user. Firewall issues still persist, but users no longer require a vocabulary lesson to use the application.
